This legendary luau has been celebrating the food and music of the islands at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel for more than five decades. Guests are welcomed to an evening under the stars at the ocean's edge. Dinner includes traditional foods and contemporary offerings. A highlight is the talented Lim Family of Kohala who share the rich tradition of music and dance during the exciting show.

Only reason this didnt earn 5 stars is because there is a 15% gratuity added automatically that they do NOT disclose when quoting you prices. When you are a family of 6 people and already paying so much, thats an extra $200 that we had no clue about

We've been to two different luaus on the big island and four other luaus on other islands. This was one of the best of those five and a solid choice if you're on the big island. The venue feels more intimate than some of the larger luaus and tries to have fun with kids during the first part of the show. The food is solid for luau fare but I'd you're looking for the best poke you've ever had you will be disappointed. This is a buffet but the food is much better than the other, much cheaper luau we went to on the big island.
